Actually, nobody knows. Studies have shown that different mangroves are home to 50-150 fish species, to most shellfish in the tropics, and to unknown numbers of crabs and other marine creatures. Most of the microorganisms living in the mangrove ecosystem (that by weight are over 80% of the living organisms there) are unknown to science. Hundreds of microbial species have been discovered and they are only the tip of the iceberg. |
