Conservation of arid mangrove ecosystems in Baja California Sur, Mexico
Amazing facts about mangrove trees:
Salt Management
High concentrations of salts (like table salts, found in abundance in seawater) are very toxic to trees. Yet mangroves absorb large quantities of salty water daily and they are alive and well. How do they manage?

The black mangrove exudes surplus salts through the leaves, as you can see from this sample: those white spots on the leaves are exuded salt crystals.
Other trees have a special mechanisms in the roots to avoid excess salts entering the plant, taking in only the concentration of salts they need.
