    Annual Prize
    “Premio al Merito en Biología del Suelo Dr. Jesús Caballero Mellado”

    This prize was established by the Mexican Society of Soil Science to honor the memory of Dr. Jesus Caballero Mellado. The prize is awarded to outstanding researchers in the area of Soil Biology. The prize is awarded every year during the annual National Congress of the Mexican Soil Science Society.

    The prize for 2012 was awarded to Dr. Maria Valdés Ramírez of the National Polytechnique Institute (IPN) in Mexico City for her outstanding contributions to soil biology.

    The Prize for 2013 was awarded to Dr. Yoav Bashan of the Northwestern Center for Biological Research (CIBNOR) for his outstanding contributions to agricultural microbiology in Mexico.

    The plaque given to Prof. Bashan by the Soil Science Society of Mexico.
